The Bneutral certification system operates in the following categories of the CRCF: permanent carbon absorption, carbon farming, carbon storage in the product, and other categories of the Carbon Voluntary Market. The methodological portfolio grows following the priorities of the CRCF and the indications of the community. Each new methodology follows the same path: scoping with stakeholders, draft development, 60-day public consultation, adoption.
BECCS: Bioenergy with capture and storage
Energy production from biomass with capture and geological storage of CO₂ from combustion. Biomass absorbs CO₂ during growth, and instead of releasing it during combustion, it is captured and permanently stored underground. The methodological challenge is to verify the entire supply chain: from the origin of the biomass to the integrity of the geological storage site..

Accelerated mineralization: Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW)
The crushing of silicate rocks and their application to agricultural soils accelerates a natural process that sequesters CO₂ in a stable mineral form. One of the CDR technologies with the greatest potential for scaling up in the coming years.

Permanent reforestation
Reforestation offers the advantage of scalability but faces the challenge of ensuring permanence. A credible CRCF methodology must include continuous satellite monitoring, buffer pools scaled to local risk, and clear offset mechanisms.

DACCS: Direct Air Capture
Direct air capture of CO₂ and its geological storage is technologically the most elegant solution, but also the most expensive. Current costs (€200–600/t) are still high relative to the market. bNeutral monitors technological and cost developments before initiating any methodological development.

The Stakeholder Exchange welcomes proposals for new methodologies from industry experts. The Technical Committee reviews each proposal within 60 days. Each methodology in development also has a scoping phase open to contributions from industry experts, researchers, and policymakers.
