The CRCF is not an optional label: it is EU law. Every carbon removal must satisfy all four QU.A.L.ITY criteria to be certified. No trade-offs between criteria are permitted.

Q: quantifiable

Removals are calculated using validated scientific methods, net of all emissions generated along the project's supply chain. Every calculation is conservative: under uncertainty, the least favourable value is always used.

A: additional

The project must generate removals that would not have happened without certification. If the removal would have occurred anyway, by law or standard market practice, it does not qualify.

L: long-term storage (durable)

Carbon must remain stored for a significant period: decades for agricultural practices, centuries for Biochar and industrial technologies. The risk of reversal is managed through dedicated reserves and continuous monitoring.

The molecular structure of the material produced guarantees stable storage for centuries, measurable in the laboratory and traceable along the entire supply chain.
